Exhibit in ANA Museum

12 July 2016

“Approaches” exhibition

Location: ANA Museum (Departure area of Humberto Delgado Airport, Lisbon)

Dates: July to November

Curator: João Pinharanda

On the 14th of July, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal inaugurates, in ANA Museum, Lisbon, near the departures at the Humberto Delgado Airport, the APPROACHES exhibition which, for the first time, brings together the best of its art collection.

ANA has been developing a policy of acquiring art heritage, mostly focused on painting, which enabled the collection of a remarkable body of work from some of the most representative names from the 20th century’s Portuguese painting. A significant part of this collection, usually scattered across the company’s headquarters and the 10 airports it manages, now and for the first time is gathered in a single exhibition, enabling its free enjoyment by the general public.

Aware of the role played by airports as privileged locations for cultural exchange and promotion of Portugal’s image in the world, ANA expects to make an increasingly larger contribution to the dissemination of Portuguese culture, which is ultimately an additional way to fulfil its mission of “connecting Portugal to the world”.

Curated by João Pinharanda, this exhibition creates a dialog between pieces which had never been brought together, from important names such as Noronha da Costa, Julião Sarmento, António Palolo, Júlio Pomar, and many others, providing Approaches with each of them, seeking poetic lines and roads to attachment or detachment. Fortunately, as the curator states, “we are in a poetic domain, which allows for recombination, reconstitution, reencounters and departures”. This is the challenge left for the visitor.

The exhibition will be open to the public from July 18 until November 2016, from Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 7pm, with free admission.
