INSTALLATION OF NEW HOLD BAGGAGE SCREENING EQUIPMENT

Lisbon airport has installed available Standard 3 tomography equipment for hold baggage screening (HBS - Hold Baggage Screening). This equipment has a higher capacity of identifying prohibited articles in hold baggage, providing operators with 3D images for analysis and decision, which results in an increase of effectiveness in the security process of this system.
Its implementation has required changes to the infrastructure in the various installation locations (in terminals 1 and 2), namely in the baggage terminals, with reinforcement of the respective floors in view of the weight, dimensions, and greater demands of this new equipment. Simultaneously, training began for the security service providers who will operate the system and the respective security procedures were updated.
