SOS CAGARRO

In 2022, the airports of Flores and Horta counted with three rescues of cagarros, under the SOS Cagarro campaign.
The cagarro is an emblematic bird of the Azores and its song is very characteristic of summer nights. Many visitors carry this sound in their memories as a mark of the Azores.
The Azores Airports, and in particular Horta Airport, have been partners in the program for a number of years, participating through the reduction of external lighting and more actively in the rescue of birds found within its perimeter.
Thanks to the collaboration of airport volunteers in this campaign, the Azores Airports are even more environmentally friendly!
